NBA’s TV partners continue to scramble to add Spurs games

For the third time in just a matter of days, the NBA announced that one of its TV partners will broadcast a Spurs game nationally.
This time, the league announced Sunday the Spurs’ home game against Charlotte on Saturday, March 14 will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video.
The game will still be available as a local telecast on FanDuel Sports Network, the Spurs said.
Additionally, the Spurs announced the game will now tip off at 2:30 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled 7 p.m. start.
The league announced on Friday the Spurs game at Miami on March 23 would be broadcast by NBC/Peacock after announcing on Wednesday that San Antonio’s home game against Portland on April 8 would air on ESPN.
Both of those games will still be available locally on Fan Duel Sports Network.
It’s no surprise the Spurs are a hot item. They rolled into the All-Star break ranked second in the Western Conference with a 38-16 record after winning their last six games in a row, the longest current streak in the NBA.
The Spurs will return from their mini-vacation to play two “home” games in Austin next week with their sights set on surpassing Oklahoma City for the top spot in the West.
San Antonio trails OKC by three games.
“Everybody’s preparing to be the best,” Spurs rookie Carter Bryant said here at All-Star weekend. “All of us are going in with the mindset of trying to push for that one seed, trying to push to make it all the way to June (for the Finals). And that’s the only reason you play. You don’t play for stats, you don’t play for MVPs. You don’t play for those things. That’s not the way the Spurs are built. The Spurs are built to win championships.”
